Der Müll Toys has been touring the Mexican Republic for several months and will finally arrive at the border next Saturday, February 11, to give a workshop talk in La Rodadora.

The urban artist who promotes and spreads the culture of Art Toy through the nomadic project called Der Müll Toys will share with the attendees the way in which he creates the most spectacular toys with recycled material, in addition to what he experienced on board ‘La Bendita’, a model 77 combi that has become his home and workshop.

“I have traveled 21 states, so I have been living in the van for a year and three months, which is my house, my workshop and my vehicle. I make art toys, or piteros toys as I call them, and I make them by reconnecting materials, garbage, and broken toys,” says the native of Celaya, Guanajuato.

The 40-year-old artist explains that each of his toys has a story to tell, a concept, and a written script explaining what inspired him.

“For example, right now I bring some pieces that are limited and were made during the time I was in Chihuahua, so they are inspired by that state. They have data and anecdotes about the people I met there.”

Thus, integrating his personal experience, Der Müll Toys creates the most fantastic characters, for which he uses resins, epoxy plasticine, cold porcelain and paints.

In the field of toys it has been four years. Although he always felt attracted to them, he studied for degrees in Industrial Design and Environmental Design, developing professionally in the field of furniture and spaces.

“When I was little I wanted to design toys, but when I started studying I put aside my childhood dreams until I got my fantasy back. When I discovered the Art Toy I knew that I wanted to dedicate myself to it for the rest of my life”, she expressed.

Congruent with their aspirations, Der Müll Toys has spent the last year visiting the most remote cities in Mexico, taking their art to every corner.

He is accompanied on the trip by Pork Chop, a pitbull who will be present at the workshop now that he arrives in Ciudad Juárez.

“The Galaxy Wanderer also comes with me, a robotic larva that has left everything to pursue his dream of traveling.”

The workshop will take place from 4 to 6 in the afternoon and boys and girls from eight years of age and up are summoned. In addition to sharing his experience within the Art Toy, the artist will guide them to model their own toys.
