Father and son are murdered in Madera after an argument at a wedding

MADERA, California – The man allegedly responsible for the murder of a father and son in Madera was arrested while trying to cross the border into Mexico, police authorities said.

According to the police report, Madera County Sheriff’s officers are investigating two homicides that occurred after 4 am on June 18.

Apparently, the suspect, Francisco Trejo Ramírez, would have shot Jesús Gil Espinoza after an argument that occurred during a wedding held on 9th avenue.

Trejo left the party and went to the 23000 block of Las Palmas Avenue where he allegedly opened fire on the 60-year-old victim. The shooting also reached a minor under the age of 15 who was taken to a local medical center.

After shooting Jesús Gil Espinoza Sr., the same subject fatally shot Jesús ‘Y’essy’ Gil, 33, son of the first victim.

“Agents responded to both locations and discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two of them, later determined to be father and son, were pronounced deceased at the scene,” the Sheriff said in a statement.

Alejandra, sister and daughter of the victims, is still questioned. “Why did he kill them? They didn’t have to die, if anything he had problems with my dad why did he kill my brother, if anything he had problems with my brother why did he kill my dad.”

“I have many questions and I will never know the answers,” adds the woman.

Authorities reported Monday afternoon that the suspect was arrested while trying to flee to Mexico. For now, he is being transferred to the Madera County Jail.

Anyone with information regarding this case or the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detectives at (559) 675-7770. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
