With a purchase option for 70 million euros, FC Bayern can sign João Cancelo (28) on loan from Manchester City in the summer. For the people of Munich, however, the amount may be too high, as sports director Hasan Salihamidzic suggests in the ‘Bild’.
“We’re playing with open cards. The most important thing is that João feels comfortable in Munich and can perform in the second half of the season. But we also made it clear to him that this sum is difficult for us to imagine in the next few years.”explains Salihamidzic.
“If all sides want…”
However, the squad planner suggests that the transfer fee could also be renegotiated: “But I’ve also learned that if all sides absolutely want a joint solution, you can manage it in the end. He knows he’s been one of our dream players for years.”
In addition, the Portuguese full-back seems dispensable in Manchester, and the relationship with city coach Pep Guardiola is said to be strained. Brazzo says: “The fact that Cancelo worked without a rental fee is due to the network, but of course luck.”
In the meantime, Bayern have already got along with Cancelo “over four years” occupied: “But a transfer was never possible before. Either the position was occupied or we didn’t have the money for it. In the end, our persistence paid off.”
