FDNY: At Least 7 Injured After LIRR Train Derailment in Queens

NEW YORK — A Long Island Railroad (LIRR) train derailed in Queens early Thursday, disrupting rail service, possibly causing traffic delays and road closures, according to the MTA and FDNY.

The incident occurred near 93rd Avenue and 175th Street in Jamaica shortly before noon.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene, according to authorities. A photo from inside a train carriage showed firefighters on board.

According to the FDNY, eight cars of the train derailed, resulting in at least seven people suffering minor injuries.

It is unknown what caused the derailment.
