Mexican authorities reported on Saturday, April 22, about the seizure that they achieved in a property located in La Barca, Jalisco. It is a huge collection of exotic animals, which includes 10 tigers, six jaguars, five lions and other speciesin a town that is characterized by being dominated by the organized crime.

According to the investigation folder and the information revealed by the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), elements of the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA), when carrying out a surveillance tour of a dirt road that leads to San José de las Moras, in La Barca, they found a property in which there were animals of different species.

They immediately notified the Public Ministry of the Federation (MPF), who requested the search procedure for said property, which was carried out by the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), with the support of specialized experts from the institution.

The following animals were seized at the site: two antelopesa calls10 tigers, three of them puppies; six jaguarsfive lionstwo deer red, two Eagles Harris, an emu bird, three caracara birds, a raven, two pelicansthree vultures, nine red-backed parakeets, one cacomixtlefour kramer parrots, two multicolored parakeets and two raccoons.

They were apparently found in corrals, stables, and cages located in a large area.

The authorities failed to identify the owner of the land or the enormous number of animals in captivity. However, it could be related to the entity’s cartel since it has previously carried out executions in said municipality, in addition to the fact that in that site they have located common pits.

It should be noted that federal prosecutors from the United States had revealed just a week ago that a leader of the Sinaloa cartel he fed his tigers with his enemies, living or dead.

The reason why they were in that place remains unknown, but the animals were seized and it is presumed that his possession was illicit.

In most cases, insured animals in Mexico are transferred to public or private zoos or reserves so that they can receive appropriate care.

“While many of these victims were shot, others were fed, dead or alive, to tigers kept by defendants Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, who raised and kept the tigers as pets,” according to an indictment. exposed on April 14 in the southern district of New York against the Sinaloa cartel and its collaborators.

The brothers, sons of the jailed capo Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, are the main defendants among the 23 collaborators included in the indictment. Unfortunately, the fascination of the mexican narcos with exotic animals is nothing new.

In 2022, photographs circulated of the place where a shooting took place between an organized crime group and the police in which 11 criminals died. The images showed the corpse to a little monkeydressed in a small camouflage jacket and a small “bulletproof” vest, which was lying on the body of the gunman who was apparently the owner.

After what happened, the little ape was immediately written his own corrido, a traditional Mexican song that is usually composed for drug lords and on that occasion it was the little animal’s turn.
