O The film is based on the literary work of journalist José Vieira, written in 2001, and should premiere at the end of 2024.

The film “takes place in the 1940s, where the estuary was a source of livelihood for many families, as well as a means of transporting goods, with a 12-year-old boy as the main character, who one day, listening to his grandfather tell the story of the Fada da Ria, he decides to go looking for her, venturing through the lagoon channels, in search of the ecosystem.

Filmógrafo revealed that, later this month, the casting should start to choose who will play the main role, being done in partnership with the Region of Aveiro, the Municipal Councils and the School Groupings, in the 11 municipalities of the estuary.

António Costa Valente, one of the film’s producers, adds that “it will be a didactic adventure for children and young people and will certainly attract audiences from 8 to 80 years old”.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to relive the legacy of our grandparents and a lifestyle that was lived almost a century ago”, says José Vieira, writer and director of the film.

For the writer and journalist, the film will show how fishing was practiced in the estuary in the 1940s, how moliço was caught and what the moliceiro’s routine was like at that time”.
