Find out who will receive payment in May

MIAMI.- As is usual every month, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) began to distribute a new payment of food stamps to millions of beneficiaries in Florida and different states of the country who do not have access to food in the basic family basket.

SNAP is one of the nation’s largest federal nutrition assistance programs, supported by the Department of Agriculture (USDA), providing food assistance to low-income individuals and families, including seniors and People with disabilities.

In the case of Florida, these resources, which are administered by the Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency (ESS) of the Department of Children and Families, are deposited monthly through the Access Florida Card, which can be used in some authorized supermarkets.

SNAP benefits allow eligible individuals to purchase essential foods such as bread, fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy products. But, it cannot be used to purchase items such as pet food or alcohol.

How much will Florida residents receive?

The amount received by beneficiaries varies according to the number of people in each family, income and household expenses. The gross monthly income of those favored must not exceed 130% of the federal poverty line.

They must have a gross monthly income of $1,580 and a net monthly income of $1,215 to be eligible.

Due to the 3% increase in the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), this year the checks that the 2.85 million enrolled beneficiaries will receive will be sent for amounts ranging from $291 for an individual up to $1,751 for a family of 8.

While households with two to three members get between $535 and $766, households with four and five people could receive $976 and $1,155, and finally families with six and seven members get a monthly benefit of $1,386 and $1,532.

Who will receive payment this week in Florida?

Money for the purchase of food is not deposited on the same day in all states, since each entity is responsible for managing and distributing them, even though the funds are delivered by the federal government.

While some entities allocate them for several days or weeks, others deposit them for a single day.

In the state of Sol, payments are made between the 1st and 28th of each month, and the deposit date is determined by the eighth and ninth digits of the beneficiary’s case number, excluding the tenth digit.

According to the schedule, if a recipient’s ninth digit is 9 and their eighth digit is 8, then their case number would be 98.

This week from May 6 to 12, the DFC will allocate the payments that correspond to the digits from 25 to 41.

These are the dates on which the DFC will send benefits during the week of April 14 to 21, corresponding to cases 46 to 74:

This is the schedule for this first week of May:

  • Digits 25-27: Wednesday, May 8
  • Digits 28-31: Thursday, May 9
  • Digits 32-34: Friday, May 10
  • Digits 35-38: Saturday, May 11
  • Digits 39-41: Sunday, May 12

Eligibility to apply for SNAP depends on your state’s rules and family income limits. In Florida, to be eligible for this benefit program, the person must be a resident and meet some requirements.

These include having a current bank balance of less than $3,001 and sharing your home with a person or persons aged 60 or over, a person with a disability, including a child, spouse, parent or the applicant themselves.
