As the Berlin police announced on Easter Monday, emergency services were called to a fire in the Prenzlauer Berg district on Saturday afternoon. According to the initial findings of the investigating officers, a fire broke out around 3:50 p.m. in an apartment on the fourth floor of an apartment building on Hanns-Eisler-Strasse.

The fire fighters deployed could only save the dead of a 63-year-old woman, who is said to have been the tenant of the apartment, according to the message. The other residents of the house were unharmed. According to the police, the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing and is being carried out by a fire department of the State Criminal Police Office. (tsp)
