Jalisco.- The first CURP of non-binary gender is issued in Jalisco for Abdel Vidrio Reynoso, 43 years old.

The update of their gender identity was reflected in the Unique Population Registration Code (CURP) with an ‘X’ instead of having an ‘M’.

The process to obtain this official document took approximately 23 days. Once the change was issued, Abdel became the first person with a non-binary CURP.

“I went to check the CURP and the update appears as non-binary, so it took a little more than a month,” Abdel said in an interview with Milenio.

It should be noted that Abdel also has the first non-binary birth certificate issued by the state of Jalisco, a document that was delivered to him on January 12.

“The day I went to pick up the certificate, which was February 17, was the day I entered the procedure in the National Population Registry (Renapo),” he reported in his interview.

Abdel will carry out the corresponding procedure for the change of gender identity in the INE, official identification that remains to be updated.
