After the massacre of five people in the US state of Texas by their neighbors, investigators caught the alleged perpetrator. The man, who is from Mexico, is now in police custody, San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said last night (local time). Hundreds of emergency services had searched for the 38-year-old suspect after the homicide last Friday.

According to FBI agent Jimmy Paul, a telephone tip finally led the security forces to the alleged perpetrator, who was arrested yesterday at 6:45 p.m. (local time, 1:45 a.m. CEST) north of the city of Houston. According to Sheriff Capers, the man was hiding under the laundry in a closet.

The man is said to have shot five Honduran people with his semi-automatic rifle in Cleveland, also near Houston, including a nine-year-old child. Several other people were injured, some seriously. As reported by US media, the shooter had practiced shooting with his semi-automatic rifle in his garden on Friday evening. When his neighbors asked him to stop because a baby couldn’t fall asleep, the man freaked out.

According to the TV channel CNN, the alleged perpetrator had been deported from the United States at least four times since 2009. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the deaths were “five illegal immigrants.” However, he later corrected himself and said at least one of the victims “may have been in the United States legally.”
