This Tuesday, 20 electric school buses were delivered to the Miami-Dade County School District.
These zero emission vehicles mark the first of many steps to reduce the environmental footprint and promote clean mobility in the cities of Miami-Dade.
State-of-the-art Vision electric school buses, provided by Blue Bird, are designed to transport up to 72 students and can travel up to 120 miles on a single charge.
As part of its electrification strategy, Miami-Dade will collaborate with Florida Power & Light (FPL), the state’s main utility, to implement 50 DC fast-charging stations.
Ten of these charging stations will be operational by September 2023, allowing the buses to be fully recharged in approximately six hours.
Miami-Dade Schools Public Service has more than 335,000 students and 50,000 adult learners, they say the plan is to increase electric vehicles.
