Florida helps Oklahoma devastated by tornadoes

MIAMI.- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) to deploy a management team to areas affected by the tornadoes that hit the state of Oklahoma over the weekend.

Last Saturday, April 27, about twenty tornadoes hit southern Oklahoma with winds that reached 170 miles per hour, leaving in their wake four people dead, another 100 injured, and a great trail of destruction.

In response, FDEM will deploy an incident management team to Sulfur and a specialized team to Oklahoma City to assist with recovery efforts.

“Florida will stand with the people of Oklahoma as they navigate this tragic event,” DeSantis said in a statement.

In 2019, Florida sent emergency crews to Oklahoma to assist in a catastrophic flooding event.
