A Florida woman won $1 million in a state lottery Scratch-Off and elected to receive her winnings as a lump sum payment of $820,000.

Vanessa Tirado-Gutierrez, 53, of DeFuniak Springs, claimed her $1 million prize from the 500X The Cash Scratch-Off game at Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, according to the place official of the Florida Lottery.

Tirado-Gutierrez purchased his winning ticket at the Highway 83 General Store, located at 4483 Highway 83 North in DeFuniak Springs. The retailer will receive an additional $2,000 commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $50 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game has a top prize of $25 million and is the largest ever offered in a Florida Scratch-Off game.

The odds of becoming an instant millionaire are 1 in 4.50.

Scratch-off games are a significant part of the Lottery’s gaming portfolio, accounting for approximately 72 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2022-2023.

Since its inception, Scratch-Off games have awarded more than $57.1 billion in prizes, created 1,802 millionaires, and generated more than $17.77 billion for the EETF.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $44 billion to improve education and send more than 950,000 students to college through the Bright Futures scholarship program.

It reinvests 99 percent of its revenues into the Florida economy through prize payments, commissions to more than 13,500 Lottery retailers, and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid out more than $87.5 billion in prizes and made more than 3,500 people millionaires.
