The rumor mill is picking up speed again at the end of the year. An Apple analyst is now contradicting other reports, according to which Apple is planning to release a successor to the iPad mini as a foldable or collapsible version in 2024.

In fact, the iPad mini 7 should appear as early as 2023. This is now reported by the well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and explains his current findings on Twitter. The information comes from insiders who are directly familiar with the new devices.

Ming-Chi Kuo refutes the rumors that a foldable iPad will replace the iPad mini. Rather, Apple is already working on a new iPad mini.

In a series of tweets Tuesday morning, Kuo discussed how he sees the future of the foldable iPad and what he’s already learned. He states that the costs are currently still an obstacle to the market launch of the product.

Few details

In particular, the price difference between the iPad mini and a foldable device of a similar size is currently still too great. In addition, the suppliers do not yet indicate that the procurement difficulties will be resolved and that Apple would still have capacity for a new device. According to Kuo, Apple is working on a new iPad mini, the main feature of which is an improved processor. But you probably have to wait a long time for the iPad mini 7.

The current sixth-generation iPad mini was launched in September 2021. It features the A15 Bionic, 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 256GB of storage. The successor is not expected before the end of 2023. Technical details – except for the obvious processor update – have not yet been found out.
