My friend, the photographer Gary, came to the restaurant for a delicious turkey sauce with lemon and ground chili. “María, there are only a few days left until 2022 ends, a year marked by political scandals, a coup, social protests, deaths and the withdrawal of the coronavirus pandemic. We hope that 2023 will once again see the country’s economic takeoff with the new administration led by Dina Boluarte. Let’s stop fighting and thinking about ourselves and not about our neighbor, about the general interest. Peruvians are, by nature, entrepreneurial, chamba, creative and do not hate work.

Where he goes, he resorts, makes an effort and succeeds. I have had the opportunity to travel to some cities in the United States, and what one sees in big cities is a lot of people living on the streets or under bridges. There are thousands, but no Peruvian. That saying that says “the Peruvian does not die of hunger” is true. They are of that spirit, our people are destined to be the best. We only need a little order, fight corruption energetically and have a lot of support from the State to undertake. This is how South Korea, Australia, the United States or European countries grew.

But we also need a plan as a country, to know where we are going and for what. The economy can grow but for what. So that there are more rich and millions do not share that wealth? We must go towards a welfare state, where everyone has the same opportunities and treats us equally. No discrimination based on our place of origin, mother tongue or skin color.

It is ridiculous that in Peru, in these times, there are people who look down on those who are from the provinces or who do not have white skin. And the most laughable thing is that many of those discriminators have grandparents from Puno, Huanca, or Loreto, and on top of that, they dye their hair and speak stretching their words to appear to be from Miraflores. Peruvians, better vibes and try to be happy:

  • Do you know why Venezuelans come to Peru? Because here are riches and opportunities. Feel proud to live in a country of such diversity.
  • Our gastronomy is already among the 10 best in the world. Before it did not appear on the list of 100. That shows that with work we can achieve anything.
  • Most of the fortunes in the country were born almost from nothing. The Wongs’ father was a grocer. Los Añaños, from Ayacucho who saw an opportunity in the era of terrorism. The Romero’s grandfather, owners of Banco de Crédito, a modest cotton farm in Piura. With work, inventiveness and sacrifice you can make a fortune.
  • With so many universities, now it is easy to study a career and be a professional. There are no more excuses for not believing. The world is Yours”. Asu, nice thoughts from Gary. I’m leaving, take care.
