In March had a message for the first Olympic Esports Week made the rounds. For example, the reaction to what titles would be part of the International Olympic Committee’s first esports event was not exactly positive in many quarters. The attempt to adapt real sports from the Olympic Games resulted in some bizarre-looking names in the squad. However, it has now been announced that, in addition to more or less well-known video games, one of the most successful brands of recent years will also be part of the event.

Fortnite at the Esports Olympiad

The IOC has officially confirmed that Fortnite will be represented during Olympic Esports Week. Players who take part in the so-called Champion Series should compete against each other in a sharpshooting competition during the week. A virtual island was specially built in the game for the competition. The event can be followed both there and in the live stream on the Olympic Games website.

Olympic Esports Week runs from 22nd to 25th June and takes place at the Suntec Center in Singapore. Until the announcement of Fortnite (buy now €18.23 ) NBA 2K23, Rocket League and Gran Turismo 7 were the biggest names in the Esports Olympiad. Whether this venture will ultimately succeed is a completely different matter to date. At least you can decorate your own event piece by piece with more well-known titles.
