As predicted by Turn10, the new Forza Motorsport on Xbox Series X|S and PC has unveiled with exciting gameplay and new information.

The Xbox Direct was organized by Microsoft to take stock of the next Xbox Series X|S exclusives like Redfall or the new game from Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within). The automotive simulation Forza Motorsport notably occupied part of the presentation.

Forza Motorsport, a showcase for the Xbox Series X|S

After the first gameplay video released during E3 2022, Forza Motorsport just got a new release. The Xbox Direct conference has indeed made it possible to see unpublished in-game extracts, and to learn more details about this purely new-gen episode.

Turn10 qualifies this Forza Motorsport as the “most technically advanced racing game ever”, an episode designed only for Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC. To this end, the teams did a lot of work on materials and shaders to optimize ray tracing rendering, and painted the vehicles with a spectrophotometer. A machine with a barbaric name used in car paint shops. The idea is thus to have a better interaction of light vis-à-vis colors, brilliance and radiance. But a car gets dirty, it gets damaged and the developers promise that the damage and the dirt will affect the cars of Forza Motorsport in a “unique” way.

The environments which will number 20 – including 5 new destinations with Kyalami in South Africa – should also make a leap forward. Like other games of the genre, such as Gran Turismo 7, the level ” unbelievable “ details of the circuits will be obtained thanks to photogrammetry.

Full of cars and the best physics ever

As explained previously, the developers of Turn10 focused on different aspects that deserved to evolve, starting with physics. And this in order to improve the simulation dimension that separates this series from Forza Horizon. Far more advanced physics than Forza Motorsport 5, Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Motorsport 7 combined in the words of the studio.

One of the big advances relates to the management of tires and grip points on the track. Parameters such as tire pressure, weather or asphalt temperature will have a major impact on driving. As well as the types of tires chosen and the wear system.

The sound has also been the subject of special care to offer more immersion with two audio formats: Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos. Each changed part (exhaust, turbo…) should modify the noise of the cars, and each lap of the track will be the occasion to hear in a more subtle way the squealing of tires and the sounds of the engine.

Finally, Turn10 talked about content. When Forza Motorsport launches in 2023 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, there will be over 500 cars, including over 100 new ones, to “collect, race and customize with over 800 unique upgrades”.
