PARS.- The commission of France responsible for annually selecting the film that competes for the scar The award for best foreign film announced today – July 5 – organizational changes, following the controversy that arose over this year’s selection.
“The commission of the National Cinematography Center (CNC) will go from seven members to 11 in order to promote collegiality in the debates, diversity of points of view and the secret nature of the vote,” explained the official statement.
This commission will be appointed for two years, instead of one as until now, and the president of the CNC will no longer attend its sessions as an observer to reinforce the independence of the commission, both from public authorities and from professional sectors.

The commission caused surprise by choosing the film for the 2024 Oscars The pasin of Dodin Bouffant, by Tran Anh Hung, instead of last year’s great success, in France and abroad, Anatomy of a fall, by Justine Triet.
Triet’s film won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2023, as well as other international awards, and has been a huge box office success.
Tran Anh Hung, for his part, won the award for Best Director at Cannes.
Triet lashed out at Emmanuel Macron’s government for its film policy in his thank-you speech at the Cannes closing gala, which in turn earned him criticism from members of the government.
The Academy that awards the Oscars each year chose to ignore the official French choice and selected Anatomy of a house in five categories, a historic event.
Triet’s film, a thriller a thriller set in the Alps, eventually won the Oscar for Best Screenplay.
