NEW YORK.- Francine Pascal, a former soap opera author whose books of Sweet Valley High and the adventures of twins Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield and other teenagers captivated millions of young readers, died Sunday at the age of 92.

The Pascal’s death was confirmed Tuesday by its publisher, Penguin Random House, which did not immediately have additional information.

Since 1983, Francine Pascal has overseen the completion of more than 150 stories Sweet Valley Highmany written with the help of others.

They were set in an imaginary suburb of Los Angeles, with ‘gently rolling hills’ and a ‘fantastic white sand beach’ nearby. In bestselling books like Double Love, Power Play y All Night LongIn The Wakefield Girls, the Wakefield girls and their classmates navigate dating, family conflict, sibling rivalries, and more troubling issues like race, divorce, and mortality.

His books sold more than 200 million copies and included spin-off stories and sequels to Sweet Valley.
