Free delivery of backpacks and school supplies by the Denver Police and other organizations

DENVER, Colorado – In its fourth year, the Denver Police Department (DPD), the Denver Police Foundation and Kroenke Sports Charities partner again to distribute 2,500 free backpacks filled with school supplies to families in Denver.

The Denver Police Back to School Caravan, which will include several DPD show cars and Kroenke Sports mascots, will travel to five backpack drop locations in Denver on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

“The Denver Police Department is extremely pleased to partner with the Denver Police Foundation and Kroenke Sports to purchase, fill and distribute school supplies and backpacks knowing it makes a real difference in our community,” said Chief Denver Police Officer Ron Thomas.

Denver Police officers and volunteers will hand out free backpacks filled with school supplies, while supplies last, at each location. Supplies provided are listed on DPS supply lists and include pencils, notebooks, paper, markers, rulers, glue, folders, and much more.

Residents in need of school supplies can attend one of the following locations during the times listed:

  • 5255 West Warren Avenue, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
  • Skyland Park at 3380 Holly Street, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Lincoln Tech at 11194 East 45th Avenue, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Highland Park at West 32nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Kennedy Baseball Field parking lot at 2998 South Kenton Street, 12:00 to 1:00 pm

This is the eighth consecutive year that the Denver Police Department has collaborated with community partners to distribute free backpacks and school supplies to Denver families, and the fourth consecutive year that the “Backpack Caravan” format has been used. . Families in need of school supplies are encouraged to attend one of the distribution events, no registration or qualifications required.
