Carlos Cortés, the new president of the Real Estate Agency, spoke about what is to come for the Monumental stadium. He reviews the details.
Carlos Cortés, director of Blanco y Negro, assumed the presidency of the Real Estate Agency of the Colo Colo stadium after the resignation of Angel Maulén a few months ago. Today the lawyer spoke about this new charge and promised, as soon as possible, to publicize the “Stadium Project”.
In conversation with El Mercurio, the director referred to what is being worked on. “As Real Estate we are interested in two aspects. Two years ago they have been working on improving the infrastructure of youth soccer: this 2023 the gyms, the food area were inaugurated and improvements were made at Casa Alba “, he said.
He also added that, “now we are in the second part, which is to improve the dressing rooms. Regarding the Monumental, there is a will from ByN, the Corporation and the Real Estate Agency so that the ‘Stadium Project’ begins to walk as soon as possible. And that is the integral improvement of the Monumental”.
The next step? Carlos Cortés is clear. “I hope that soon we can jointly present the ‘Stadium Project’. It’s not smoke, it’s real, absolutely real. As long as I am in this position, there is a will to implement it. The idea is to make an absolutely modern stadium”.
When asked if this project could be ready for the club’s centenary, the lawyer said the following. “The idea is to present the project as soon as possible. Then, carrying out the projects takes a couple of years, ”he clarified.
YOUR NEW POSITION
Carlos Cortés also spoke about this new challenge. “They appointed me with an important assignment: that people can go to football in peace. The idea is to generate measures that allow those who commit crimes and those who cloud the attendance of the fans to the stadium to be punished, ”he explained.
Finally, he added that, “if there are no changes, we will have empty stadiums. Nobody is going to go to the stadium, nobody is going to take their wife and children if their lives are at risk. The business closes earlier and people go out little, because violence can fall on them. If we have unsafe stadiums, people will stop going. From my experience as a criminal lawyer, one can collaborate, because unfortunately crime has patterns that are repeated in stadiums and on the streets”.
