With this new allowance, the executive wants to support the most modest motorists who work.

It replaces the rebate at the pump. The fuel aid, which aims to support the purchasing power of motorists in the face of rising petrol and diesel prices, comes into force on January 1, 2023. And with this compensation equal to 100 euros, the government intends , this time, targeting the most modest workers who use their vehicle to get to their place of work.

Concretely, to benefit from it, you must be the owner of a car, have a job and be part of the first five deciles of income, that is to say 50% of the most modest French people who own a car.

Less than 1314 euros net per month for a single person

“The limit of the 5th decile corresponds to an annual reference tax income per unit of less than 14,700 euros”, indicates the government on the site service-public.fr.

This corresponds, in detail, to an income of less than 1314 euros net per month for a single person and 3285 euros net per month for a couple with one child or for a single person with two children.

For a couple with two children, the monthly household income must not exceed 3941 euros net. This threshold increases to 5255 euros net for a couple with three children.

Aid per person, not per household

“This compensation is paid per person and not per household”, specifies the site service-public.fr. In other words, each member of the household who takes their car to work will be able to receive the compensation.

Eligible persons must apply for fuel assistance on the site impots.gouv.fr and indicate their tax number, their license plate and vehicle registration number. Finally, they will have to complete a sworn statement indicating that they use their vehicle to go to work.

A dedicated space should be put online on the tax platform from January 16, 2023.

About 10 million people should benefit from this new device.
