An anonymous tipster began providing information last May about possible online profiles and websites that May was possibly using under the alias “Cary Bailey.”
Investigators followed up on the information provided but were never able to pin down May’s location, authorities said.
But on July 25, the same informant provided a new tip and a photo of who they believed to be May, which had been posted on a Palm Beach, Florida, news site.
The new information, which included a previously unknown new alias, allowed investigators to learn a possible location for May in that town, authorities said.
An apartment in Palm Beach was placed under surveillance and thus an alleged associate of May was found, whom investigators followed to the city of Fort Lauderdale, also in Florida.
