history of the house

The exhibition “Have you been lucky? 70 years of Kaplan Bonetti Dornbirn” shows the history of the “House of Young Workers” and the diverse social structures that have arisen in the meantime as a result of social developments. Contemporary witnesses report and people today tell about their experiences with homelessness and long-term unemployment. A path leads from the exhibition through the city to the canteen of the “Kaplan Bonetti” house, where the thematic circle closes and guests are welcome.

In addition to the special exhibition, there have been two other interesting innovations in the City Museum since May. On the one hand, social barriers are broken down with free entry to the city museum every first Sunday of the month. On the other hand, from the end of May, the new “Mobile Museum” will open up to the public space and seek out lively places that are not necessarily associated with the museum. A small, mobile structure will be the starting point for various activities in the city at each special exhibition. The City Museum also offers an extensive educational program with great highlights all about “Have you been lucky? 70 years of Kaplan Bonetti Dornbirn”. There are workshops for all age groups and the story universe for children in cooperation with the city library. Also the speakdating on explosive social issues, the two lectures “Who owns the public space?” by Christian Reutlinger and “How to get out of the war?” by Peter Pirker and a series of films with an open-air cinema in the garden of the Kaplan Bonetti house are planned.

Numerous guests came to the opening of the exhibition.
