Since 2021, the Ultra models of the Galaxy S line have hit the market with four cameras, two of which are telephoto. However, information indicates that the Samsung can change this strategy in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with the device offering consumers “only” three sensors. Apparently, the South Korean giant has been considering removing the 3x telephoto lens, but rest assured, a better solution seems to be on the way.

New camera system

According to information from leaker “Tech_Reve”, a Samsung must eliminate the 3x telephoto sensor, present since the Galaxy S21 Ultrato insert a periscope lens of variable zoom, which can magnify from 3x to 10x, similar to the sensors presented by LG last year.

With this strategy, the South Korean giant intends to improve the versatility of the cameras, offering an intermediate zoom to meet more needs. In addition, the company can also discard an additional sensor, something that increases the final price of the device.

Another possibility is that the Samsung satisfied with the performance of the 200-megapixel HP2 sensor, which could deliver a 3x digital zoom equivalent to the same 3x optical zoom present in the Galaxy S23 Ultraeliminating the need for a second lens.

Anyway, we will have to wait for more information to confirm (or not) all of this. It is worth remembering that the line Galaxy S24 it should only be released in the first quarter of 2024, possibly with a new Exynos chip and keeping the current generation camera settings, except for the Ultra model.
