Games Workshop says it does not believe Amazon’s film and TV deal will harm its intellectual property rights. This statement was made recently in a financial report to investors, where the company states that it should “explore opportunities to exploit our IP with Amazon Studios”.

This report followed the news that Henry Cavill would star in and executive produce a Warhammer 40,000 series at Amazon. We haven’t heard anything about the project since then, but quite a few Warhammer fans have been concerned that Amazon would make significant changes to the brand, especially after their handling of The Rings of Power series.

However, it seems that Games Workshop is confident that the Warhammer brand will remain protected, and it is the creative media director’s main job to “ensure that any representation of [the Warhammer] IP is aligned to our IP guidelines and is approved, correct and consistent”.

Games Workshop’s deal with Amazon is structured differently than other TV deals, meaning the company could potentially pull out if Warhammer isn’t respected at Amazon. However, Games Workshop says they still are “confident we will bring the worlds of Warhammer to the screen like you have never seen before”.
