The Savior.- An active member of the criminal organization Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) was detained by the authorities of El Salvador after being found hiding inside a coffin tied to the roof of a vehicle while trying to leave the country for Guatemala, reported the National Police.

According to the head of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Gustavo Villatoro, the arrest of the gang member, identified as Alexander Vladimir Hernández, alias ‘Servero’, took place during a traffic control in the municipality of Chalchuapa.

“These cowardly terrorists are exhausting their hideouts and their ways of wanting to escape justice. […] They cannot and will not circumvent Salvadoran justice. Know that we are persecuting all those criminals who have bills to pay before the law. We are going to extract them from any hiding place,” said the minister.

Villatoro also confirmed the arrest of two other individuals, Walter Yubine Zelaya Lemus and Rafael Alexander Juárez, “who collaborated with this terrorist to transport him and tried to deceive our National Police agents.”

This Thursday, the Salvadoran Legislative Assembly approved, with 67 votes in favor, six against and nine abstentions, the tenth extension for 30 days of the emergency regime, decreed last March by the Government to combat gangs.
