Because, they say out there, that if it’s not Chana, it’s Juana. A deputy from Morena launched an initiative to Eliminate INAI but this time from the Mexican Constitution.

And it is not the most serious. The legislator puts on the table the idea of creating an Institute of Government Transparency that is made up of only 3 commissioners appointed by the Chamber of Deputies.

And as you will surely remember, it is not the only idea that Morena has launched to give the National Institute of Access to Information and Data Protection a neck.

They propose to eliminate the INAI again

Recently, in the Permanent Commission, the deputy Manuel Alejandro Robles Gómez presented an initiative to eliminate the INAI… but this time from the Constitution.

The project proposes to modify article 6 of the Constitution to end the INAI and create in its place the Institute of Government Transparency.

The legislator explains that this institute must be autonomous, specialized, impartial, collegiate, with legal personality and its own assets, as well as full technical and management autonomy and with the capacity to decide on the exercise of its budget.

This new body would have 3 commissioners who will be elected in stages. The Chamber of Deputies would be in charge of issuing the call and electing them.

Let us remember that previously Senator Alejandro Armenta Mier presented an initiative to eliminate INAI and transfer functions to the Ministry of Public Administration. Then he repented, lowered the initiative and promised that he would present it again but passing the functions to the Superior Audit of the Federation.
