Alphabet, parent company of Google, announced it is laying off around 12,000 employees. The revelation took place this Friday (20), where it was said that there was a cut of approximately 6% of the company’s workforce.

In the last two years, Alphabet has rapidly increased the number of employees at the decision of Sundar Pichai, current CEO of Alphabet and Google. Pichai says he will take “full responsibility” for his action. Anyway, the CEO of Google says that the company is preparing “to share some completely new experiences for users, developers and companies” and the company has “a substantial opportunity” involving artificial intelligence and the products developed by them.

Reuters says one person posted on Twitter that he was working on developing the Chrome browser and lost his job while being promoted to a leadership role on a Google project.
