Google Maps has launched the rollout of Immersive View, a feature that lets you dive into the heart of cities using artificial intelligence. It is deployed in London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo.
Google uses artificial intelligence to improve the quality of its translations and now its mapping service. Google Maps’ AI-powered Immersive View feature is actually rolling out at London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo. Other cities like Amsterdam, Dublin, Florence and Venice will be added in the coming months. Moreover, Google Maps will also offer routes adapted to electric cars.
We had already heard about Immersive View last year, but its rollout took longer than expected. As its name suggests, Immersive View immerses you in the heart of cities in Google Maps. This feature offers an immersive view created from a plethora of aerial imagery and street view imagery. These are combined using artificial intelligence.

Google explained that ” billion images » are merged to « create a rich digital model of the world “. Besides letting you explore a city, Immersive View also displays important information such as the weather, traffic and frequentation of a place. So you can see what a tourist spot will look like depending on the weather and attendance before you even get there.
Additionally, Immersive View also allows you to diving inside buildings to give you an idea of the atmosphere. Google gives the example of restaurants. With Immersive View, you can peek inside a restaurant to see if the atmosphere appeals to you.
Indoor Live View functionality is coming to over 1,000 airports, train stations and shopping malls worldwide
Finally, Google which unveiled Bard to compete with ChatGPT also announced that the rollout of Live View functionality indoors is underway. It will be available at more than 1,000 new airports, train stations and shopping centers around Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Melbourne, Paris, Prague and São Paulo, Singapore, Sydney and Taipei In the coming months.
Live View uses your smartphone camera to display information in augmented reality thanks to AI. Just hold your smartphone in the middle of a street to easily spot restaurants, ATMs and more. Outdoor Live View is already available in London, Los Angeles, Paris, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo. It will be deployed in the coming months in Barcelona, Dublin and Madrid.
