It’s hardly a secret that it can be tough to travel 100 years back in time to live on a farm.

The participants have limited access to food and drink, in addition to having to work hard. In several previous seasons of the farm universe, there have been cases of smuggling of various goods.

One luxury item has stood out in particular here – namely alcohol. However, it has not been a problem for the participants at Torpet celebrity 2023. Because they have been given access to this, without having to resort to alternative methods.

One bottle of wine a week

Eli Kari Gjengedal (51) says that they had a lot of good food on the farm, and points out that there were only three people to share.

They baked bread every day and had good dinners. In addition, they received 16 liters of milk from the cows every day. As for the alcohol, they were given one carafe of liqueur during their entire stay, and one bottle of wine a week.

In addition, they received two bottles of wine when Gjengedal, Ingeborg Myhre (47) and Erik Sæter (26) arrived at the farm for the first time.

– Then it happened that the people who came by had something small, says Gjengedal to TV 2.

– There wasn’t a lot of alcohol, but certainly more than at the Farm – and there was less to share. A bottle of wine shared between two to four people is not much more than a large glass each, she adds.

– Just as good without the alcohol

She then says that they enjoyed themselves with the liqueur while it lasted. However, it was not the alcohol that was the reason for a good stay for the weather anchor:

– I would have had just as good a stay without the alcohol. Then we would probably have had coffee in the evenings. It was very nice to enjoy good food. We always had a great time around the dinner table.

It was mullet liqueur that became the famous “knerten” for the ladies. Myhre points out that they never came close to bristling with alcohol on the farm.

– Everything you get in there in terms of goodies is scooped up and is so extremely appreciated, considering that we have a very simple diet and only have water – and mostly coffee – to drink, she says and adds:

– Then it’s extra nice with a little knert or a glass of wine!

– More luxury at Torpet

When the eliminated Farmen celebrity contestant Espen PA Lervaag visited Torpet, he noticed the empty wine bottles.

– That’s about it, yes. It’s not old, you know. Fairly fresh wine, so they’ve been sitting here enjoying themselves, Lervaag said after smelling the bottles.

– Torpet is much more luxurious compared to Farmen. We had, for example, a lot of coffee, access to oatmeal, salt and pepper. There is minimal of that at Farmen, says Myhre.

She points out that it would have been boring without something to enjoy, but that the amount of alcohol was not as great as it looks.

– It looks like we get a lot more alcohol than we actually got, she says.

– Shocking

Erik Sæter, on the other hand, thinks there was a lot of alcohol at Torpet kendis. He did not want to drink alcohol during his stay on the farm.

– I actually have a strong aversion to external drugs. I basically think that it’s embarrassing that I snuff, and I think it’s a bit sad to drink in everyday life, he tells TV 2.

– For my part, the ladies could only drink, but I never wanted alcohol in there.

TV 2’s press manager Jan-Petter Dahl says that access to alcohol at Torpet is completely moderate.

– The alcohol mostly comes through the rewards from the mentor in the form of a bottle of wine, and it happens that those who come to Torpet from the Farm bring a bottle of wine or a few bottles of beer with them, writes Dahl.

– It has also occasionally happened that the production has left a bottle of wine before the weekend as a nice gesture to the participants, but overall it can be considered a moderate supply of alcohol at Torpet.

Cases of smuggling

In several cases, other participants have found it necessary to smuggle in precisely alcohol.

During last year’s season of the parallel universe Farm celebrity, the participants could reveal that they had smuggled alcohol onto the farm. Then it was the winner Isak Dreyer who got strangers to buy various goods.

– Ten chocolate bars, six kebab rolls, six liters of red wine, six liters of spirits, two kilos of coffee, two liters of juice, and oil, Dreyer told Good Evening Norway about the shopping list.

The same happened during the autumn season of “ordinary” Farmen. Then it was the mayor Dan-Håvard Johnsen (55) who went for a walk in the area to smuggle in raw materials. Then he got, among other things, alcohol.

– There was probably a little alcohol. I guess it was. The production doesn’t know yet. Or maybe they do? I don’t know, Johnsen told TV 2 at the time.
