Most of the 63,512 gang members, captured by the security forces of the Government of President Nayib Bukele through the emergency regime and the Territorial Control Plan, have had cell phones confiscated with which they coordinated brutal homicides and other serious crimes.

From March 27, 2022 to the date of the War Against Gangs, Government security forces have seized 15,189 cell phones from these criminal groups, from the most basic to high-end electronic devices on the market.

When these devices were reviewed by the authorities, records of calls to commit extortion, homicides and to plan other serious crimes have been found. In addition, some cell phones have found photographs and videos that show the commission of horrendous murders.

The war against gangs has also resulted in the confiscation of 2,290 firearms of different calibers, 2,866 motor vehicles of all kinds, and $1.7 million in cash.

The Government of President Nayib Bukele has managed to dismantle gangs at the national level through its effective security strategy that keeps the country with a sustained drop in homicides and other crimes.

The Head of State has highlighted that the success of the War against gangs maintains the homicide rate of 1.8 per 100,000 inhabitants in the country, which makes it the lowest in the American continent.

In three and a half years of the administration of the Government of President Nayib Bukele, 298 days have been recorded without homicides, among these 27 so far this year and five in February.
