This year the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has skyrocketed around the world, where people are using this type of technology to develop realities outside of the current. With this, it was recently revealed that the Venezuelan government disseminated its “economic improvements” with propaganda made with AI.

Recently, it was revealed that the Venezuelan government, led by Nicolás Maduro, has gone to great lengths to create digital platforms that pretend to be real media, to share fake news of the country’s economic outlook.
Propaganda shares false information through computer generated avatars and as confirmed by the Spanish media El País, through a spokesman for the organization Cazadores de Fake News, Héctor Mazarri, who analyzed a YouTube channel called House of News Español that operates with these objectives.
In the publication there are some alleged “reporters” who speak in English about topics such as Venezuela’s economy, making statements that deviate considerably from the figures recognized by the international community.

According to the Spanish outlet, the Fake News videos have gained hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, and went viral on social networks like TikTok where they appear as paid advertising. In addition, they were broadcast on the state television of the Maduro government.
As the specialist explained to the aforementioned Spanish media, such fictitious representations are generated with software called Synthesia, which has a hundred human faces that can be used with multiple purposes and that they can reproduce from a written text, a speech with different voices, accents, languages and attire.
All this comes when, just a few weeks ago, a New York Times report warned about the use of this technique with AI, by Chinese authorities, in order to implicitly influence the public.
Let us remember that Venezuela, It has been reporting a strong economic, social and human rights crisis for more than 20 years, due to the bad policies of the Nicoles Maduro government. Therefore, it should be noted that these new records related to disinformation in Venezuela are added to an extensive list.
In short, although AI is primarily a tool used by humans to perform somewhat complex activities, the misuse of this technology can represent in these photorealistic contents that can become weapons of harassment, propaganda or social conflict throughout the world.
