With faltering steps, Gunilla Svahn shows up to her apartment just outside central Uppsala. She has just started walking without a walker, but when she goes for a walk outside she still needs it. The road back from the disease is a long process.
– For several months I could neither speak nor move my body. I just lay in the hospital bed not understanding anything. It was a terrible time, says Gunilla Svahn.
Forgot to take the vaccine
The reason why Gunilla Svahn became seriously ill was that she did not take the top-up dose of the vaccine against TBE. Today, she regrets it and hopes that her story can help others from sinking.
– I took the vaccine against covid-19 and forgot to top up my protection against TBE. My hope is that everyone understands how important it is to get vaccinated. No one should have to go through this, she says.
