Colo Colo has had nine quite intense days. Last Saturday they visited Huachipato in Talcahuano and won 1-0 thanks to a score by Leandro Benegas. Four days later, the Cacique debuted in the Copa Libertadores against Deportivo Pereira and got a draw. Just four more days, Colo Colo was measured against Santiago City for Copa Chile.

Without a doubt, April is a very demanding month for the entire Albo team, both for the national and international competition. With the aim of giving rest to those players who have had a greater load of matches, Gustavo Quinteros lined up a team full of youth.

Regarding the team that defeated Santiago City 2-0, the Colo Colo strategist stated the following: “We come from playing two games in a row with Huachipato and then in the Copa Libertadores with a trip from Monday to Thursday night. So all those players were tired in their heads and also from having worn themselves out in a very difficult game. We didn’t want to risk anyone from the start because of a muscular issue”.

Regarding the performance exhibited by the team and the development of the match, Quinteros commented: “Perhaps the responsibility weighed on them, they needed to loosen up a little more to be able to define the game before, we did not do it and always with one to zero until the end it is complicated because at any moment they could tie it. Then we already did the second almost at the end of the game ”.

On this occasion, the Eternal Champion jumped onto the field of the Monumental Stadium with a change of scheme, returning to the line of four in the background and asked about the tactical variants, the man from Santa Fe replied: “It is good that the players can get used to it depending on how the game or the rival is set up, that they can have the two systems with which we have been working well oiled. Later it will find characteristics in some positions with others, it will change some elements with each other, but we have already been working on some games. We have to generate more options and elaboration, that is the most difficult thing”.

To close, Quinteros was satisfied with the rise that the players have had in recent weeks: “I have seen that many players have raised their level and today we have a more competitive team. Hopefully we can continue to grow and improve during the competition and be able to reach a much higher level of what we are playing.”.

After this victory, Colo Colo prepares for his next rival, nothing more and nothing less than the Catholic University.
