The strategist lamented the complications they have had to strengthen themselves and referred to the search for the long-awaited center forward to replace Juan Martín Lucero.
Colo Colo officially debuted in the season and has its debut in the National Championship just around the corner, however, from Blanco y Negro they still cannot close the squad and two reinforcements are missing in key positions: the center forward and the right side.
Gustavo Quinteros himself addressed this situation in the press conference prior to the game with Deportes Copiapó, where he did not hide his concern by the arrival of new incorporations and regretted that the negotiations “they have not been easy”.

In the first instance, the DT stated that “Unfortunately, the team that we had formed could not be maintained for various reasons.. Several players left and we are rearming ourselves, that process ended very well, today we have to rearm a team in which we started with new players, some with two days of training”.
“It’s something that happened and It will take us a while to reassemble that competitive team that we want.. The first objective of the season is to wait for the reinforcements that come to replace them to arrive, that they arrive as soon as possible to start working with a team that can fight for the championship and qualify for the Copa Libertadores”, he added.
Along the same lines, he was clear in pointing out that “we still need a replacement for Lucero and Opazo, we hope that Emiliano Amor will recover. There are still players missing in key positions so we are on that job. The season started and unfortunately they still haven’t arrivedbut I know that Daniel Morón and the sports management they make every effort to arrive as soon as possible”.
“Negotiations have not been easyIt is a part of the market where it is difficult because most of the players have contracts with their clubs, there are few free players. Negotiations are underway, we are in a rearming process, that these last players arrive to complete the squad and thus be able to work with everyone to achieve the best performance in a maximum of four weeks”, he complemented.
What about the long-awaited center forward?
Asked about the arrival of the long-awaited center attacker, the strategist said that “As a coaching staff I delivered a list of five or six forwardsthat I know they talked to everyone. They are negotiating with twobut I will not give names so as not to generate inconvenience. Those two are on my list. (Merentiel and Lezcano), there were others, but due to contractual issues they could not come. We will continue to hope that these players can decide, have the additions of the players before the fourth date, because they have to replace names that went well. This way the team will be solid, we didn’t expect to change so many players, but that’s how it happened and we have to be calm”.
Finally, he did not hide his concern about the delay in hiring new faces. “The truth is that I was not worried because we were not surpassed in football. We lost on penalties against a team that has been formed for a long time and plays well. With those we had available we played a good game, it was more favorable in situations for us but it was not reflected in the result, ”he began by saying.
“What does worry me is that time is going to pass, the tournament is being played where the goal is the title and we still haven’t completed the squad. It is much better to start with all the players from the preseason like last year, so we were able to meet the main objective and now we are starting a new stage. You have to be patient, work hard, wait for the players to arrive to give an operation similar to that of the previous year and thus achieve the objectives ”, he closed.
