A survey commissioned by the American magazine Newsweek reports the drop in popularity of the couple since the publication of the memoirs of Prince Harry.

Harry and Meghan also disappointed Americans. The couple’s popularity rating has dropped in the United States since their multiple revelations, according to a Redfield & Wilton poll commissioned by the magazine. Newsweek.

According to this poll carried out six days after the publication of Harry’s memoirs, the prince lost 45 points of popularity and Meghan 35 points in just over a month.

Private conversations

In the United States, as in the United Kingdom, the public seems to reproach him for the extent of his revelations. 44% of respondents believe that Harry was wrong to quote private conversations with members of his family. Especially since the couple has continued to complain about the revelations of the British press about them, and to ask to be able to live in peace, far from the attention of the media.

Newsweek also recalls that the couple was very popular at the end of 2019, before their departure for the United States, despite the negative articles about them which had already been published in the British press. The newspaper also points out that the couple are much more unpopular in the United States today than they were in the United Kingdom in 2019, when the press was particularly fierce.

Record sales

The poll says a quarter of respondents (24%) had a lower opinion of the Sussexes since the Netflix documentary aired Harry & Meghan beginning of December, and the publication of the book The Alternate.

But if the public is disappointed by the attitude of Prince Harry, that does not prevent him from buying his book. The Alternate thus beats since January 10, the date of its official publication, sales records.

The Penguin Randon House publishing house, which publishes the book, revealed on January 11 that Prince Harry’s memoirs had sold 1.4 million copies in the United States, the United Kingdom and the United States. Canada, a record number for a non-fiction book.

In France, it was reprinted three times and sold 85,000 copies in five days.
