Hazel’s career
Allison Hazel Brugger was born in California on December 9, 1993 and has held US citizenship since then. She also has Swiss citizenship and German nationality.
She grew up with her two older brothers near Zurich. She began studying philosophy and literature at the University of Zurich, but dropped out.
At the age of 17, Brugger began her career with poetry slams. In 2013 she even won the Swiss championship title at the Poetry Slam Championships.
She started her first stage show “Hazel Brugger Happened” in November 2015. A year later she began working as an outside reporter for the “heute-show”.
Hazel has been producing and presenting together with Thomas Spitzer since 2019 YouTube series “Germany Was Geht”.
In February 2019 Brugger started her second solo program “Tropical” on stage, but had to cancel the planned dates due to the corona pandemic. As of December 2020, a replay of the program was available as a special on Netflix.
Hazel Brugger will be back for the fourth season of LOL
Brugger moderated the Swiss Music Awards in Lucerne at the end of February 2020 and was nominated for the German Comedy Award 2020 in the category “Best Comedian” in September of the same year, which she won on October 2, 2020.
Since July 2021 she has been presenting her third stage program “Do you know this woman?”.
As of April 6, she is in the fourth season of „LOL: Last One Laughing“ seen on Amazon Prime.
Hazel Brugger private
Hazel Brugger is also private with her business partner Thomas Spitzer. The two live together in Cologne and have been married since 2020.
They have been talking about their relationship on the Spotify podcast Just Married since early 2021. After this podcast was discontinued in December 2022, the new joint podcast “Hazel Thomas Hörerlebnis” started in March 2023.
Their daughter was born in March 2021.
