We’ve known for a while now that HBO Max and Discovery Plus will merge and become one streaming service. However, when that would happen has been unclear until now when Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the new service will simply be called Max and will launch in the US on May 23rd. They also took the opportunity to reveal what the prices will be and there will be three different subscriptions in the form of Max Ad-lite which will cost $9.99/month, Max Ad free for $15.99/month and Max Ultimate Ad free for $19.99/mo.

However, the Swedish launch will be delayed until 2024 and no date has yet been set, but via HBO Max’s Swedish page on Facebook it is written that more information will come when the launch begins to approach. What this will mean for those who signed up for half the price of HBO Max for life at launch is also not clear, but presumably that benefit will end because HBO Max will no longer exist.

What do you think of the new Max?

In the US, the launch already takes place on May 23rd, while in Sweden we have to wait until 2024.
