A 22-year-old girl was arrested yesterday morning in Puerto Iguazú, accused of setting fire to the home of her ex-partner last Sunday, December 25, and at the time when the victim was at a relative’s house during the celebrations for the Christmas.
The police intervention began just last Sunday, minutes after 6:40 a.m. in a house located in the Alto Paraná neighborhood of the City of Cataratas.
There, two crews of Volunteer Firefighters from the city had to intervene urgently to control the fire, and that by then, was seeking to reach an adjoining property.
Despite the efforts of the rescuers, the prefabricated wooden house was almost completely consumed and its owner, identified as Marcos Álvez (39), a bricklayer by profession, lost a large part of his belongings.
Already interviewed by the uniformed officers, the victim narrated that that morning he had left his house and went to his aunt’s house, in the Nuevo Iguazú neighborhood of the town.
There he spent several hours sharing with his relatives until at a certain moment a cousin of the bricklayer received a voice message on the Whatsapp messaging network from an ex-partner.
“Let him look at his house that that is what happens to him because he is a turkey,” said the message sent by the young woman, identified as Beatriz Ester L. (22) and what prompted Marcos to immediately move to his house, at which time who noticed the fire in his house.
Immediately, members of the V Regional Unit and the Fourth Police Section began the rigorous investigations to confirm the suspicion of the alleged responsibility of the girl in the accident.
In this context, a neighbor from the Alto Paraná neighborhood and who lives a few meters from the victim’s house, told the uniformed officers that before the bricklayer arrived, she saw a young woman leave the property.
Based on this contribution and that of other witnesses who testified in the investigation, from the Investigating Court Three of Puerto Iguazú, in charge of Judge Martín Brites, the arrest of the former partner of the bricklayer was ordered.
Although during yesterday morning, the alleged person responsible for the fire, appeared spontaneously at police headquarters and made herself available to Justice.
From that moment on, she was made available to Justice in a police unit and it is expected that in the next few hours she will be taken to give an investigative statement.
