'He is a person who has no ethics': about George Santos

The motion for George Santos to be expelled from Congress and removed from office was supported by 311 Congressmen, including many Republicans, who voted in favor of it.

A historic vote that makes the New York congressman the sixth legislator expelled from the chamber.

Jesús Salgado, who lives in the district that Santos represented, believes that the now former congressman should have resigned sooner.

“Imagine, my son, it’s all lies, it’s things like that. So I can’t have a congressman like that. I’m not telling him, but it’s his honor to say well, so as not to drag it out and not have so many dirty things out in the sun, It’s better, I retire decently and do what you want. That’s it. Ready yes or no?” he asks himself.

Santos allegedly lied continuously during the election campaign, inventing a resume and a parallel life.

A large majority of Republicans and Democrats have agreed that Santos’ situation was unsustainable, having been charged with 23 serious crimes, including various types of fraud, forgery and identity theft.

“He is a person who has no ethics. Because he is lying not only to a community, but to an entire country. From there we start from values, principles and values. That goes from home, from home, from parents, in schools “I think it is not right, it is not, it is not, it is not an example to follow for our youth, for our children,” adds Victoria Moncada.

Expulsion is the most severe punishment for a legislator in Congress. It is extremely rare and requires a two-thirds majority vote to succeed.

“Well, imagine, it seems very good to me, because if the congressmen have fired him, they have thrown him out, it is because it is a shame for them by stealing, not working decently, honestly. And that stealing, getting rich, doing his things, personal use. And it shouldn’t be like that and that’s it. Like Central American politicians, like in my country they are in the same situation, they are in a country like this,” says María Castillo, another resident of Queens Village.

Santos had announced that he would not seek re-election following the publication of the ethics report, and has denounced the investigation as, quote, “a disgusting politicized smear.”

The residents of the district are now waiting for the candidates to replace him.

“That he hasn’t done any mischief out there, do you understand me? And that he comes, that they choose the right one, but that he is a person with credit,” says Jesús Salgado.

Well, honest about this, of course.
