A 38-year-old woman, mother of a family, attacked her son with a knife “for not cleaning his dirty plate,” Tennessee Police reported.
She faces charges of aggravated assault and aggravated child abuse after her son called the Memphis Police Department on March 7, according to an affidavit obtained by the Miami Herald.
The media that have reported the event did not name the mother to protect the identity of the child, whose age was not revealed either.
The boy told officers that he and his mother started arguing after he “didn’t clean his dirty plate,” according to the outlet.
In addition, the grievant added that the argument began to escalate and then his mother slapped him, according to the affidavit.
He then told officers that he slapped his mother back but the woman went into the kitchen and pulled out a knife.
The woman stabbed her son in the left upper back, according to the affidavit obtained by the outlet, and her son was taken to a hospital for treatment of his stab wound.
On March 20, officers questioned the mother and she said she stabbed her son, body camera footage showed.
Later on April 10, the woman was arrested and is now being held at the Shelby County Jail.
