Oaxaca, Mexico.- A subject who was identified as the owner of an irregular carpentry stall threw thinner at Rocío Gómez Ortega, director of Ecology for the City of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, whom he chased with a match in hand to try to set it on fire in protest with administrative measures.

The event, which occurred last Friday, was captured on video. That day, the municipal official led an operation to remove an irregular post in the park of Colonia Cuauhtémoc, where wooden furniture was sold.

Angered by the measure, José “N” rushed at Gómez and threw a liquid at him that witnesses identified as thinner. Later, he took out a box of matches and tried to set it on fire.

The Oaxacan woman asked the police for help and employees of Ecología de Salina Cruz tried to move the attacker away.

Among five officers they had to stop the man who wanted to burn the director and put him in a patrol car, from where he continued to issue threats.

“That is a grace that I am giving you, hold on, you bastard,” he told Gómez.

The subject was transferred to the Public Ministry for this fact and was later taken before the Isthmus Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office in Tehuantepec.

However, last Sunday he was released with the right to face his process in freedom.

The attack dissatisfied the official and the Salina Cruz City Council was warned that at the next hearing they will ask a judge to prosecute the attacker for attempted homicide.

As reported to local media, the merchant and carpenter had already been notified 5 days in advance in a trade in which he was asked to remove the business from the park, but when he failed to comply, Municipality personnel came to remove it.
