The “Simpsons” lose their musical veteran…
Chris Ledesma († 64) was responsible for the sound of the legendary animated series for 33 years – from the first broadcast in 1989 until his retirement in May 2022 he arranged, edited and mixed the music for every episode. Now he is dead.
The “Simpsons” family said goodbye to their longtime colleague “in loving memory” in the current episode “Mein Leben als Vlog” (from the 34th season, which has not yet been released in Germany). Ledesma sits on the famous sofa with a baton in hand at the end of the episode, alongside Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie and Bart.
“Simpsons” screenwriter Al Jean (61) posted a picture of the scene on Twitter. “A wonderful, hard working and very talented man who will be missed by all who knew him,” Jean wrote.
Executive Producer Matt Selman also paid tribute to Ledesma on Twitter: “Chris Ledesma was a lovely goofy guy with a big heart – his amazing musical life unfolded over 33 years of The Simpsons.”
Ledesma wrote a “Simpsons” poem in gratitude
Chris Ledesma himself was happy until the end, having spent more than three decades on the sound of the “ Simpsons”. “There aren’t many who can say they’ve LITERALLY spent half their life at ONE job,” he wrote on Twitter in September 2021.
On his personal blog “ Simpson’s Music 500‘ Ledesma even wrote a little poem for his 31-year ‘Simpsons’ anniversary: ’The gratitude for my good fortune knows no bounds. Even when Monty chases me away, releasing the hounds.”
In German: “The gratitude for my happiness knows no bounds, even if Monty (Mr. Burns, editor’s note) chased me away and set the dogs after me.”
Chris Ledesma lived in California. He leaves behind a wife, two daughters and grandchildren.
