Heat warning in South Florida, prepare for a scorching day

MIAMI.- This Friday, South Florida is going to be on fire. Temperatures could exceed 90°F and the heat index can reach as high as 110°F. Therefore, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a heat warning for Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In recent weeks, South Florida has experienced a series of heat advisories similar to what is expected today due to extreme temperatures, which have consistently exceeded 90°F with heat indices rising above 100°F .

This intense heat pattern has not only been persistent, but has also significantly affected the daily lives of residents, forcing them to take additional measures to protect themselves from the sweltering heat.

As a result of these heat waves, there have been some reports of people suffering from illnesses related to high temperatures.

Among the most common cases are heat stroke, dehydration and heat exhaustion, especially affecting the most vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and people with chronic diseases.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun and seeking cool places to prevent these health problems. The community has been called upon to be alert and take care of themselves and their neighbors during these periods of extreme heat.

The heat index is what the temperature feels like when you add humidity to it. So if we have a lot of humidity and it’s hot, it feels even hotter!

High temperatures can be dangerous, especially if the person is outdoors and does not take the necessary precautions.

In addition to the heat, forecasters warned of a chance of thunderstorms until 6 or 7 p.m. There is a 40-50% chance of precipitation from Friday through the weekend.
