The company reaffirmed its commitment to the environment through various actions aimed at achieving sustainable agriculture that also benefits barley producers.

“Our goal by 2030 is to ensure that 100 percent of the barley we use to make our beers is sustainable; For this reason, we promote conservation agriculture with our producers and constantly invest in state-of-the-art technology and agricultural practices that allow us, mainly, to reduce the carbon footprint derived from cultivation and make more efficient use of water during irrigation”, explained Elena Montes de Oca Luévano, leader of Sustainability and Circular Economy of the brewery.

According to the specialist, the company has various lines of action aimed at achieving sustainable agriculture, such as ensuring that barley is a profitable crop for its producers, ensuring that the seed is of the highest quality, promoting agricultural practices that impact on the reduction of the carbon footprint and efficient use of water, as well as best practices and use of technology for soil improvement.

It also offers development of research projects to identify best practices, in conjunction with the International Center for Maize and Wheat Improvement (Cimmyt) and the National Institute of Forestry, Agriculture and Livestock Research (Inifap).

In addition, it constantly carries out evaluations and certifications by international organizations such as the FSA (Farm Sustainable Assessment) of the SAI Platform, one of the most important organizations worldwide in terms of sustainable agriculture for the food industry. and drinks.
