Hialeah residents receive free school supplies

Several non-profit organizations were located at 520 West and 23rd Street, in Hialeah, they put up a tent and several tables.

“What we have are the backpacks for the children.”

And they went from house to house delivering items that the children need to start school.

“Many of the parents are saying thank you, the price of the food does not adjust.”

And thinking about the pocket, they took the initiative to another level with the price of the haircut.

“Normally the cuts are at 25 and here they are free and we do it with all the spirit in the world.”

They also put their focus on inclusion, helping parents who were recently released from prison.

“So we’re here in Hialeah today because Hialeah has a lot of returning citizens and their voice counts, right? And taking care of the families of people in this community is one of the most important things we feel.”

In other parts of the county, the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization has also signed on to the initiative.

Classes begin on August 17 in Miami-Dade and on Monday the 21st in Broward.
