Warner Bros has just announced good news and bad news for future Hogwarts Legacy players. They both relate to the game’s save system.

The release of Hogwarts Legacy is fast approaching. While the controversy around PC configurations and the call for a boycott continue to rage, Warner Bros is continuing its communication campaign around its future card of the year. The open mode game inspired by the universe of Harry Potter does not lack beautiful assets to seduce the players, but it will miss on the other hand a feature very appreciated these days.

No cross-save for Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy never ceases to be talked about. To say that the adaptation of JK Rowling’s universe is one of the most anticipated games would be an understatement. On paper, it has it all. Fidelity to the source material, open world, stunning Hogwarts modeling and also life-saving features on consoles. All the lights are green despite a few hiccups that are already irritating fans, including exclusive content on PS5 that adds a very special arena. The new statements from Warner Bros, however, may raise eyebrows again. The publisher has made new revelations about the Hogwarts Legacy save system.

In a series of tweets in response to several Internet users, the American firm has indeed confirmed that all versions of the game will be able to contain up to 4 player profiles, each with several dedicated save slots. In other words, members of the same household will each benefit from 5 automatic save slots and 10 manual save slots. However, those who would have liked to resume their progress on another platform (for example from the Switch to the PS5), the ax fell. Hogwarts Legacy will not have a cross-save between different machines.

You will be able to link your account to both platforms (note: PS5 and Steam) to obtain the rewards for each game, but the saved data will remain on each platform where it was created. »

The lack of cross-save is not in itself dramatic, but could be more of a problem for players who would switch from the PS4/Xbox One version to the PS5/Xbox Series in the event of a change of console. On the Web many players have already expressed their disappointment, but the majority see it as an excuse to play the game a second time. We remind you that Hogwarts Legacy will be available on February 10 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. The old-gen and Switch versions will arrive later.
