While it’s only up for pre-order right now, the game is already the best selling on Steam in Franceand the fourth best selling on Steam globally. According to Benji-Sales, if the first tests of the press, and the reviews of the spectators are goodhe expects a very large launch, probably in the top of what will be on the market in 2023. While he says he heard from very good things on the side of pre-orders on consoles toowithout giving details, he believes that Hogwarts Legacy: The Legacy of Hogwarts could reach between 5 and 6 million salesall machines combined, in just one week of operation.

Hogwarts Legacy is getting review-bombed in a new way
Members of the Avalanche Software teams can therefore be optimistic, even if the game has already had its detractors for quite a while. Indeed, due to comments considered transphobic that JK Rowling, who wrote the novels and owns the rights to the Harry Potter franchisehad made a few years ago, a good part of the communities shocked by these declarations had called for a boycott of the title, even its piracy. More recently, it was discovered that the game was undergoing a new form of review-bombing. Since it hasn’t been released yet, members of the Steam community cannot comment on the title, so the “classic” review-bombing, which consists in giving bad ratings en masse without even having tested the game, is not possible. Critics of the title found another solution, since they use tags that can be attached to a game on Steam in order to give information about its content to the rest of the community, to marginalize it. Thus, a reddit user noticed that tags like “NSFW”, “Capitalism”, “Villain Protagonist” or even “Psychological Horror”, quite far from the content expected in this new Harry Potter game, had been added to it on Steam. Must therefore expect the title to be widely review-bombed when it comes out, both with intentionally too low ratings, and intentionally too high ratingssince a franchise like Harry Potter unleashes passions.

Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy releases on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series on February 10. It will be available on Xbox One and PS4 on April 4 and on Switch from July 25.
