"Hogwarts legacy", "The Settlers: New Alliances": New PC games in February 2023

The gaming highlights in February 2023 include the “Harry Potter” action adventure “Hogwarts Legacy”, the strategy game “The Settlers: New Alliances” and the space simulation “Kerbal Space Program 2”.

Hogwarts legacy

The action RPG “Hogwarts Legacy”, which is long awaited not only by “Harry Potter” fans, will finally be released on February 10, 2023 for the PC and the common consoles. Hogwarts Legacy takes place towards the end of the 19th century in the from the “Harry Potter” – franchise-familiar, magical world. Harry and friends is not even to think, because the open-world spectacle takes place long before their time. But that doesn’t mean that players with their self-created sorcerer’s apprentice won’t be old acquaintances like Albus Meet Dumbledore or Gellert Grindelwald The player character has been accepted into the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and it quickly becomes apparent that he is particularly gifted and plays a key role in an approaching conflict.

In terms of gameplay, “Hogwarts Legacy” doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it also brings new momentum to things with features such as the broomstick flying, fighting pets and effect-rich spells. In the character editor, magic talents can be individually designed and it can be decided between witchcraft or sorcery, which is the basis for the development of the character. The game offers genre-typical development opportunities, such as learning new spells and strengthening talents, as well as a crafting system for magical potions. The first trailers show a huge and detailed game world, it is to be hoped that the correspondingly high expectations of the players will not be disappointed.

Wanted: Dead

Wanted: Dead categorizes itself in the hack-n-slash and third-person shooter categories, but it also fits into the What the Fuck? category. The hybrid offers brutal melee action in combination with wild shooting in a cyberpunk setting and also exudes 90s retro and anime charm. In the role of Lt. Hannah Stone players slash and shoot through the ranks of gang members and mercenaries from private military contractors, all of whom appear to be involved in a conspiracy. Hannah is a member of the “Zombie Unit”, an elite unit of the Hong Kong police, and is supposed to investigate and clear up the alleged conspiracy with her colleagues.

A variety of deadly melee moves, assault rifles, SMGs and grenade launchers are available, as well as more than 50 finisher moves, which can be used to spectacularly thin out the enemy’s ranks. In addition to the fights against simple infantry, Hannah and her colleagues can also expect tricky boss fights against mechs and other opponents who seem overpowering. The creators of the game, who were also responsible for hits such as “Dead or Alive” and “Ninja Gaiden”, also rely on a soundtrack that is as atmospheric as it is driving, which at first glance makes “Wanted: Dead” a very entertaining, turns things around. The game launches on February 14, 2023.

Octopath Traveler II

Octopath Traveler II is coming to PC, Playstation and Switch on February 24, 2023. The first part of “Octopath Traveler” was released in 2018 and has since sold more than three million copies. The award-winning JRPG already shows its best side in all categories in the first part: optics, gameplay and story are almost perfectly coordinated and not only captivate genre fans in the first few minutes of the game. “Octopath Traveler II” tells – like its predecessor – not just one story, but eight small episodes of different characters that are seamlessly merged into the main story. As a player, you first choose a main character who meets the other seven actors in the course of the game.

After you have lived through their personal story, they can be added to your own group or exchanged at any time. The fights against all kinds of fiends are turn-based, as is typical for JRPGs, and depending on the composition of the group, they offer melee actions with swords and axes as well as magical abilities that, among other things, enable the use of elemental spells and healing spells. The story of “Octopath Traveler II” takes place on the continent of Solista, which is divided into east and west by an ocean. Solista shines in the HD 2D graphics known from its predecessor and offers different vegetation and cityscapes on both parts of the continent.
